Girls Varsity Basketball Win District Champions

This season for the Lady Diamondbacks will forever go down in history and have a special place in every single player’s heart. After plenty of hard fought games, with a record of 13-1- only one loss against PSJA Memorial- they claimed their first ever 31-5A District Championship in Pioneer High School history. Head coach, Nicole Villarreal, saw the potential in this group of girls and knew that the endless hours of practice would bring it out much success. Since working with the majority of the team in junior high, she prepared the girls for the next level. Villarreal and the girls had very high expectations for the season and themselves, and it is safe to say they exceeded them. As the seniors have set a new foundation for the upcoming years, they mentioned,  “It is bittersweet for my last season to have been this memorable season.” The underclassmen added to this by stating, “We know what we are capable of now, and want to achieve even more next year.”
