PHS Swim Team Smashes Competition!

Who says swimming can’t be exciting? I’ll tell you who: people who aren’t at Shary Pioneer, because they don’t know what it’s like to win like we do! This past weekend our team had their district meeting and they absolutely dominated their competition. First of all, the girls (Sidney Thomas, Autumn Chandler, Tatiana Lerma, and Jordyn Brechler) as a team broke the record for the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 204.73 seconds. The previous record of 211.78 seconds had been standing for 13 YEARS. Also, the girls did great individually. Autumn Chandler won the district title for the 100 Breast Stroke with a time of 113.75. This ALSO broke a record which had been held since 2005. Jordyn Brechler also won a district title in the 50 Free with a time of 27.47, and she placed 5th in the 100 with a time of 102.17. Sidney Thomas place second in two events, the 200 Free, and the 500. For the boys David Benavides won district in the 200 Free and Tyler Vallejo got 3rd and 5th in the 500 Free and 100 Breast respectively. The girl’s team mentioned earlier also got 3rd in the 200 Free Relay. Overall our outstanding girl’s team got 3rd place in district out of 11 schools, and our boys got 6th.
